‘The Hills’ are alive with crazies once again!

The Hills are on again! Since my TV recording device is on the mend, I may have to watch it online. This alternative is actually quite nice because I don’t have to deal with annoying commercials or a bad headache* on Tuesday after playing Radar’s The Hills drinking game. A few of my favorite rules are below.

TAKE A SIP WHENEVER…

Justin Bobby is wearing an article of clothing he could have reasonably stolen from a Mexican day laborer.

Audrina looks as if someone just asked her for the fifth third digit of pi. (Note: This will get you wasted.)

Whitney prefaces or ends a sentence with “You know?”

Spencer inverts an argument to shift the burden of guilt onto someone else.

Lauren claims she needs a “boy” to help her get over Brody Jenner. (Bonus sip if MTV producers immediately cut to Brody surrounded by a gaggle of trashy L.A. skanks.)

Brent Bolthouse promotes his club-promoting company.

Justin Bobby is wearing a wool skull cap despite the fact that it’s 80 degrees and sunny outside.

*I just would like to point out that I’m not an excessive drinker, but LC, Spencer, Hiedi and the gang are excessive spoiled crazies.

Loving Google Reader

I just checked out the trends section of my Google Reader:

From your 71 subscriptions, over the last 30 days you read 5,394 items, starred 84 items, shared 117 items, and emailed 3 items.

So while I may not be blogging, I’m blog reading aplenty. And be sure to check out my shared items: http://www.google.com/reader/shared/03383705544432067147. (RSS feed for it here.)

It’s like a second (or technically third) blog of mine, since everything I post is something that makes me smile.

*Don’t know what Google Reader is? It’s a system used to read blogs in one spot, automatically updating when new subscriptions posts are added. Looks like this:

Fact: The writer’s strike needs to stop because it’s affecting my dreamlife

Last night I dreamt that I was back in middle school. The bell rang on the first day and I raced atop the white and green marbled floors to get to my classroom on time. Even in sleep I remembered struggling to find a place to sit–next to the cool kids? the outcast skater guy? front of the room? Somehow knowing that I was in my 20s yet forced in middle school, I started to think to myself: this stinks!

Then a familiar teacher (actually my first and third grade teacher) came out and gave us our first assignment: write a poem as if you were Dwight Schrute.

Awesome. I could get used to middle school.

Ring ring. Matt My Hot Fiance calling.

Hello!

Garble. Scratch. Garble. Garble.

Matt, is that you?

Scratch. Garble.

Is this Matt’s pocket I’m speaking with?

Garble. Scratch. Office Noise. Scratch.

Hey Right Pocket, how’s it going over there? Still jammed with everything Matt’s ever owned?

Garble. Office Noise. Garble. Garble. Louder Office Noise. Scratch Scratch. Loud Office Noise.

STOLEN!

Someone stole my blog post! I know, I haven’t been “on it” with the blogging thing. So I just checked my incoming links and “ta da” my blog post on some random and very crappy page. What’s the deal?!

They link back to my blog and everything, but who/what is this Spitball Wars business and why do they feel that they can steal my stuff? Is this some new type of spam?

Click here to see the stealers and tell me what is going on. Please?

Impression Bridesmaids

If you haven’t been to a wedding lately, you may have missed the widespread popularity that is the strapless, tea-length dress. So as I’m prowling The Wedding Channel and The Knot’s bridesmaid’s dress photo galleries, it’s pretty much a quick click through to gaze at the color choices. Then I was stopped dead in my web surfing tracks with the funky offerings from Impression Bridesmaids. These would definitely make quite the impression at my wedding, which is why after I finish blogging, I’m ordering them right away.

Surprise, surprise!

I’ve tried thinking of creative ways to announce it, but none seem to do it justice. So I’ll just go and say it: I’m ENGAGED!! Those words are definitely worth the double explanation. The proposal was an absolute surprise–from the question popping to the tearful reaction to having family and close friends bursting out the door to congratulate us.

While I sort through everything, check out www.emilyandmatt.org for pictures and blogs by Matt.

Basket Brawl

Filed under: Daily Sass, Sporty Sass, Crazy Sass — Emily at 11:15 pm on Monday, April 2, 2007

I’ve just witnessed the most thrilling feat of raw athleticism, sheer determination and impeccable endurance. No I’m not talking about the March Madness finals. That was at the other end of the spectrum–a depressing display that left me with $40 instead of $140. (Although even more depressing would be that if I hadn’t have picked the Stanford upset in round 1, I would have split the pot based on points. Sigh.)

Being completely honest, the money doesn’t mean a thing after I witnessed the finest sporting event ever. The name of the game? Basket Brawl: Two kiddie basketball hoops, a slick ball, and one main rule: one knee on the ground at all times. The rest of the “rules” include no below the belt, no goal tending and duct tape anything that’s bleeding. And oh, was there blood.

The first match up was only a 30 minute meeting, with a highly disproportionate team weight. Ernst was a fighter as Keith was rendered utterly useless as anything but a rag doll. Clayton and Kurt sailed to a fairly easy win. I filmed the game and will link to YouTube videos sometime soon.

Yet the main event began in the third point of the second game–precisely as my camera ran out of card space and battery. Coming from seasoned bbrawl vets and newbies alike, what followed was the most epic battle in the history of the game. Siblings Ernst and Elise teamed up against the man known as Robot and Elise’s lightweight boyfriend. They duked it out in what some could describe as a combination of grappling, basketball and pure insanity.

Elise held her own and the fire in her eyes kept sparking at opportune times. They were down and won the universe point during about the 70th minute. I’m worn out simply from uncontrolled cheering and jumping fits. Even though the glory began as the 1 GB card ran out, cheesy as it may sound, those moments will live on in our hearts and memories forever.

Wondering

At 11:33 p.m. April 1, 2007 I’m wondering:

A. How one can become more sunburned after four sunscreen applications than the previous day with one sunscreen application.

B. Why I spend my resting time taking stats and forget to follow through with my demanded payment of Swedish Fish.

C. How one can be too tired to get ready for bed so they put it off for another hour and therefore lose much needed sleep.

And so I sit here, blogging instead of applying aloe vera and longing for some red gummy fish instead of getting my pajamas on. I hate to say it, but I’m predicting that tomorrow I’ll have a terrible case of the Mondays.

Virtual finger paint

Take a break and finger paint at Etsy. But this time, add shopping and take away mess. Sheer brilliance, I say.
