Emily,

Your room is so CLEAN that it almost looks like you might be moving. You’re not, are you? Anyway, it looks so nice I even put away the dusting spray for you. Thanks for doing such a great job!!!

Love,
Mom

What one might call a little tiff

Has my beloved Internet betrayed me? Internet, please don’t be mad at me. Tell me, what must I sacrifice in order to win your favor! No longer are you a source of information and joy, but spam! Internet, you have given me over 2,000 spam comments a little over 24 hours. But what I’m really heartbroken about is, you can’t find Henri in Ivory Snake. And they do exist.

The blog that existed to make fun of other blogs, including your favorite sassy friend, has been shut down. It is sad considering free speech has been challenged by threats of libel and complaints of obscenity. But then again…

Neiner neiner neiner!

Okay, I’m done now. :O)

The dog with no name

Filed under: Daily Sass, Sporty Sass, Family, Photos — Emily at 3:54 pm on Saturday, January 20, 2007

One of my greatest accomplishments has been convincing Matt’s family to get a dog. It began by asking about their old dog, Sammy. Matt’s dad would laugh before telling me the story I’d heard several times before. That was fine with me, you see, because with each telling a yearning for a four-legged family member was growing.

Months went by and Matt’s dad searched all over for the right dog. Then in late December, a momma dog and her two young dogs came to a shelter. They had been accused of killing a sheep, though no evidence or hostile behavior would prove this story. Matt’s dad pleaded for a second chance because he wanted to have the female puppy. In a second investigation, Debbie passed the test, but turned out to be a Duke. On a second visit, its brother caught Matt’s dad’s eye. And so “Ben” joined the family.

While we all love this dog, we can’t decide on a name. Matt and I like Brut, as in champange. His mom like Spreckles, while his dad likes Harley. Initially he was convinced Sir Barks A Lot aka Barky would be it. But he doesn’t really bark. He’s a fiesty little fuzz ball who loves to greet (read: tackle) you with hugs and kisses.

My suggestions include: Tucker, Wild Wild (West), Ninja. Can you tell I never had a dog before?

Or Hammy. If there was such a thing as America’s Next Top Model Dog, he’d be the winner. He gave me solid pose after pose.

One thing’s for sure, though. He’s definitely a Frisbee dog in the making!

So do you have any name suggestions for this fella? For more inspiration, check out my photo gallery.

Job hunt

Several of my college friends are having trouble finding jobs. Since I found one so quickly, they’ve dubbed me Master Job Finder. Most job postings are the same: techincal writer wanted, must possess minimum of 3 years experience, good iTunes library a plus, etc. But never have I read such desperation for a good writer:

Back in grade school, some people used to make fun of the smart kids. We hire them. We hire them because some challenges demand intellect. Some opportunities require curiosity. And some questions are so tired of being answered with the same trite cliches that they’re begging for someone with brilliance and an offbeat sense of humor to wrestle with the answers. … It’s a big challenge, but it’s a big Internet, and there’s work to be done.

First off, the brilliant intro obviously begs for writers oozing with intellect and maturity. But I’m confused. Are they hiring the people who made fun of the smart kids? (If so, Perez Hilton must be hiring contributing writers!) Finally, someone values the genius that is playground bullying. Mean little kids are challenged every day to come up with new wisecracks that will guarantee tears and years of therapy for the exponentially growing population of child geeks.

The world, like this company, needs these seasoned slanderers to share their misunderstood humor for the betterment of literature and mankind.

So please, Company, hire my friends. We’ve made a sport out of wordsmithing and making fun of people. It’s called blogging.

Bay Area born ‘n raised, holla!

A whole new meaning to riding in the short bus. Add the ghost rider who ran himself over to that bus route.

Focus is the name of the game

If I had a home office, I’d have this framed and design the rest of the room from there. The colors and design come together to create a beautiful and inspiring concept. Not to mention it’s a much needed message for someone attempting to be productive while updated blogs go unread all over the www.

I hope and pray that you’ll agree the above is a much better choice than this crime against the eyes.

Of course, I am copying Dooce by re-posting this link. Even worse, my first thoughts after seeing this poster was how I would design a room I don’t have around it. This is further proof that I need to stop watching HGTV.

Myrtle

It’s really dangerous for me to look at puppies. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not one of those people showing their love of dogs with ceramics and T-shirts. I simply love the playful and snuggliness.

Recently I convinced Matt’s parents to get a puppy. Brilliant, I know. While their idea of the perfect breed is a little different than mine, I’ve enjoyed helping them search. Then the other day, Matt showed me Myrtle. She’s a lab/golden retriever puppy. I know that I can’t give her a good home, especially after reading about lab retrievers in Marley and Me. But when I get my own place with a backyard, I want to help rescue a little one like this:

How can you not fall in love with her after seeing these pictures?

A Vegas New Years

Filed under: Daily Sass, Posh Sass, Holiday, Photos — Emily at 11:55 am on Sunday, January 7, 2007

I finally posted my pictures from New Years at Vegas. And if Vegas taught me anything this time it’s 1. To trim my bangs so they won’t wilt 2.5 seconds after styling; and 2. Invest in gel insoles for heels. I seriously think I’ve had a breakthrough in heels–my feet don’t feel anymore.

Oh and I have another: 3. Sleep is important. So important, in fact, that a lack of it over several days lead to a cold. Boo.

And as for our paparazzi shots:

Jared Leto

Nick Lachey
